Oh, Internets... It's been a rough week here at Amy's Annotations.
I had my 18th wedding anniversary and while that was a happy occasion, I also had a birthday. And, Internets, this was a big one. It was the big FOUR OH. (It needs to be capitalized because it is so big.)
All year long, I've been anticipating this birthday because for me it's kind of one of those milestones where you say, "OK. I'm 40. There are just things that I am not going to do now."
There are regrets, yes. I wish I'd had children. I wish I'd lost weight. I wish, I wish I wish.
40 just seems like the age where some things just stop. Like there's a line that's drawn that tells you that you can't cross it. You know, like those height limits on the rides at the amusement parks? The ones that say, "YOU MUST BE THIS HIGH TO RIDE THIS RIDE?" My line says, "YOU MUST NOT BE OVER 40 TO..." whatever the activity may be.
I know you're saying it's my mind block. And it is. I just thought I'd have done more of the things that I'm regretting I didn't do right now.
But, this post wasn't supposed to be me wallowing to all y'all. It was really to thank those close friends of mine who get it and who love me.
Thanks to you ALL. Lots of love and kisses to you... (you know who you are! :-))
We all have a weakness
Some of ours are easier to identify
Look me in the eye
And ask for forgiveness
We'll make a pact to never speak
That word again, yes, you are my friend
We all have something that digs at us
At least we dig each other
So when weakness turns my ego up
I know you'll count on the me from yesterday
If I turn into another
Dig me up from under what is covering
The better part of me
Sing this song
Remind me that we'll always have each other
When everything else is gone
We all have a sickness
That cleverly attaches and multiplies
No matter how we try
We all have someone that digs at us
At least we dig each other
So when sickness turns my ego up
I know you'll act as a clever medicine
If I turn into another
Dig me up from under what is covering
The better part of me
Sing this song
Remind me that we'll always have each other
When everything else is gone
Oh, each other when everything else is gone
If I turn into another
Dig me up from under what is covering
The better part of me
Sing this song
Remind me that we'll always have each other
When everything else is gone
Oh, each other, sing this song, when everything else is gone
Oh, each other, when everything else is gone

Music Monday
So today I have been married to my dear husband (DH for short) for 18 years. Can you believe it? Am I old enough to be married for 18 years???
So, in honor of our 18th anniversary, I bring you a very special Music Monday. Today's song is the song that he gave me a pearl Black Hills Gold ring at my senior prom. It is also the first song we danced to at our wedding. And it is the song playing in the background of our wedding video. I LOVE this song...
I would do anything
to hold on to you
that's just about anything
until you pull through
I'd hold on to you
til the stars no longer wink
I'd hold on to you
til you figure out
just what to think,
'cause
you're emotion in motion
my magical potion
you're emotion in motion
to me
I would go anywhere
to meet up with you
that's just about anywhere
for one rendezvous
I'd hold on to you
until the mountains crumble flat
I'd hold on to you
until the figure out
just where you're at,
'cause
you're emotion in motion
my magical potion
you're emotion in motion
to me
yeah
I would do anything
to hold on to you
that's just about anything
that you want me to
I'd hold on to you
until you take it all in stride
I'd hold on to you
til you want to stay here
by my side,
'cause
you're emotion in motion
my magical potion
you're emotion in motion
to me

A Sneak Peek
Well, it's not really a "peek" per se, but, an update.
On the garden porn.
Did you already forget?
No pictures yet, but, I do have my tomatoes, strawberries, peppers, and zucchini planted. My garden space is HUGE and I have been having some anxiety about trying to fill it. So I bought a book called "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Gardening". And while I knew a ton already of what was in the book, the part about how to organize your garden was the thing for me.
*Deep Sigh*
I don't have to fill my garden with all sorts of things that I don't want to grow. Or eat. Or freeze. I can grow what I want! Hooray!
Ed's only input to the garden was that the rows needed to be wide enough to fit the rototiller through. Even better! That takes up a ton of space that I don't have to plant stuff!!
More tomorrow!

Garden Porn
Badger sometimes does a post of how her garden is doing. I am stealing her idea and now Amy's Annotations will have a weekly installment of "Garden Porn".
Tonight it is not happening.
I just got my plants.
I know. It's late. Shoot me.
Just stay tuned.

Music Monday
Last day of the rest of my life
I wish I would've known
Cause I didn't kiss my mama goodbye
I didn't tell her that I loved her and how much I care
Or thank my pops for all the talks
And all the wisdom he shared
Unaware, I just did what I always do
Everyday, the same routine
Before I skate off to school
But who knew that this day wasn't like the rest
Instead of taking a test
I took two to the chest
Call me blind, but I didn't see it coming
Everybody was running
But I couldn't hear nothing
Except gun blasts, it happened so fast
I don't really know this kid
Even though I sit by him in class
Maybe this kid was reaching out for love
Or maybe for a moment
He forgot who he was
Or maybe this kid just wanted to be hugged
Whatever it was I know it's because
We are, We are, the youth of the nation
Little Suzy, she was only twelve
She was given the world
With every chance to excel
Hang with the boys and hear the stories they tell
She might act kind of proud
But no respect for herself
She finds love in all the wrong places
The same situations
Just different faces
Changed up her pace since her daddy left her
Too bad he never told her
She deserved much better
Johnny boy always played the fool
He broke all the rules
So you would think he was cool
He was never really one of the guys
No matter how hard he tried
Often thought of suicide
It's kind of hard when you ain't got no friends
He put his life to an end
They might remember him then
You cross the line and there's no turning back
Told the world how he felt
With the sound of a gat
We are, We are the youth of the nation
Who's to blame for the lives that tragedies claim
No matter what you say
It don't take away the pain
That I feel inside, I'm tired of all the lies
Don't nobody know why
It's the blind leading the blind
I guess that's the way the story goes
Will it ever make sense
Somebody's got to know
There's got to be more to life than this
There's got to be more to everything
I thought exists
We are, We are the youth of the nation

Panic
I'm feeling a tad panicked, Internets...
You see, I'm out of school for the summer. This in itself is an awesome thing. I love sleeping until 7:00 and getting MY projects done around the house. Which, by the way, has been clean for days in a row. I KNOW! Can you believe it???
Here's my panic...
I have too many projects. Seriously. I do. I'm feeling a little overwhelmed about it. I need to:
I'm feeling overwhelmed. Can you see why?
I'm supposed to have slave labor because Sal wants a cell phone. Apparently he doesn't want it bad enough because he's not beating down the door to come and work.
And then there's the overwhelming desire to do the things I want to do. Like:

Here's my panic...
I have too many projects. Seriously. I do. I'm feeling a little overwhelmed about it. I need to:
- plant my plants in the garden.
- I need to water the plants I have.
- I have two decks to stain,
- a wood pile to stack (this wood pile? It's probably 30 feet long and over 6 feet high.),
- a back hall and guest bathroom to finish,
- an office to clean and organize,
- a stone sidewalk to take up,
- a patio to plan along with replacing the stone sidewalk I need to take up,
- lawns to mow ( a weekly chore),
- a kitchen to replace (Ed's dragging his feet),
- plus two more vacations to get ready for, and demobe from.
- AND I'm turning 40.
I'm feeling overwhelmed. Can you see why?
I'm supposed to have slave labor because Sal wants a cell phone. Apparently he doesn't want it bad enough because he's not beating down the door to come and work.
And then there's the overwhelming desire to do the things I want to do. Like:
- finish the scrap book of our Jessie pictures.
- read, read, read
- meet and have lunch with my friends
- put music on my iPod
- play in my flower beds
- sit and have a beer with my husband
And I also have this fear that my summer will turn into a work session instead of a "life". I don't want to spend my summer working 24/7. I want to enjoy it, too. And I guess that I just am having trouble with the balancing act of it all.
